I love the idea of a bucket list, but it’s something that I’ve never put much thought into. Sure, I’ve made a list of things I want to try out and places I want to see but that’s for my entire life. Recently, I had a friend post about how they make a summer bucket list every year and I thought it was such an interesting idea!
I know that I already posted about the books I want to read this summer but it’s barely July and I’ve already read all of those books! I’m so big on reading and it really is an amazing way to meet/connect with people! You can learn so much from someone from their taste in books. So, since my “summer reading list” barely made it to summer, I’ve decided to make this something I do on a monthly basis, my own AFA Reading List!
Sometimes it will be books that I need to read, sometimes I’ll include books I’ve read that I really suggest others read and why. I just think that reading for pleasure is something that is so easily overlooked and it really is a great way to bond with others. I mean, there are few better feelings than suggesting a book you love to someone who in turn loves that book and then you get to talk about why you both love it!
So, without any further babbling, here is my July reading list!
Well hello there,
I would like to officially introduce myself to everyone. My name is Krystal and I am the one behind the scenes at A Fashionable Approach. Since starting AFA, I’ve been a bit all over the place with my posts and really inconsistent. I’ve realized that just because fashion is in the title, doesn’t mean that it needs to be geared towards only fashion. Which is why I decided to relaunch myself as a lifestyle blog.
Now that I am finally on vacation and don’t have mandatory readings or papers due weekly, I can finally get bucket reading for the enjoyment of i rather than for a grade. I am an avid reader and love nothing more than starting a book only to realize that several hours have passed and that I have been lost in a fictional world.
I love biographies, memoirs, true crime stories, novels – I love them all! The beginning of summer is generally the time I use to catch up on all of the books that I have been adding to my “must read” list that I keep stored on my phone (it is never-ending and only gets bigger, despite the amount of books I keep crossing off of it).
This coming Tuesday, May 16th, I am lucky enough to be invited to celebrate Scarlet’s newest industry night. Starting this week it will be hosted every Tuesday and is surely not to be missed.
Last weekend I had the pleasure of trying out Biscuits and Confetti. For anyone who hasn’t visited yet, Biscuits and Confetti is a kid-friendly cafe/creative space located on Sherbrooke Street in NDG. Anyone who knows me knows that I am more likely to end up somewhere adult-only than kid-friendly, so I was a bit skeptical when trying this place.

I know that I’ve already talked about one of my favourite go to cheese places, Mlt Down, in a previous post – but I had to give them some more attention. They’ve recently started serving burgers and I promise you, they are not to be missed!
I’m not the biggest burger enthusiast, so I really wasn’t expecting to be that impressed. I rarely order burgers when out at restaurants and it’s even rarer that I actually enjoy them. When I received the invite to test their burgers, I was somewhat excited because I know that these guys only produce quality items but I was still a bit skeptical as to whether or not I’d really enjoy it.
By now, I’m sure many of you have read about the many issues that rose from the bankruptcy of NastyGal. Trouble for the company became apparent when founder Sophia Amoruso stepped down as CEO in the start of 2015. Many speculated that the “Cinderella of Tech” was abandoning an already sinking ship. In late 2016 NastyGal filed for bankruptcy, eventually being acquired by British online fashion retailer BooHoo at the end of February of this year. A company that was once valued at over $100 million was bought out for a mere $20 million.
